Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I am going to talk to the local dive center and see if I can schedule a little more pool work before I leave in early February.

Patzer - I will probably take you up on that offer when I get back from Aussie. I'll be back at the end of June, so I will have 2 months to dive over the summer before i go back to Iowa City!

Have fun diving in Australia, I got to dive Rottnest(sp) Island this past summer. It was a great dive, so I am jealous that you are getting to dive out there. I would say to hit as much of Australia you can while you are out there. Buoyancy control is a huge part of diving, so get under as much as you can and try to get horizontal in the water with no effort and able to hold in the water. After that like said before dry-suit specialty b/c of where you are. Deep will probably go with your wreck specialty as well. Like said before the lotto will be nice when you start to get your gear. By the way, where are you going to be at in Australia?

I'll be studying at the University of Newcastle which is in Newcastle, Australia but I plan to be all over Australia's eastern and southern coasts as well as in the South Island of NZ while i am there. Can't waiiiiittttt!

I would say go blow lots of bubbles. Find some water and enjoy it.

I encourage everyone to get their Rescue Diver cert. Totally worthwhile class.
