I had a similar issue with a T2 and intially switched it out with a 28" DGX double braided flex line (much cheaper than Miflex) and a swival. Still caused side load on the reg so I dropped the swivel went to a 32" DGX hose, works very well for me and by losing the swivel there is one less possible failure point. As you noted earlier due to the extended length of the inlet tube theads either a jam nut or a spacer is required to secure the inlet tube to the reg housing.
