Hello,
I have had a back operation 3 years ago. It is fully healed, with no after problems. Is there any major concerns for diving other than to be aware and attentive?

I have also had sleep apnea. I no longer have the affects. I have lost 70 pounds in 6 months and am a fit 190 lbs. I am currently awaiting open water to complete certification. Before taking the course I had a pulminary functions test as recommended by my PCP. There were no problems present.
Has anyone who has had or has sleep apnea come accross any problems with scuba?

Thanks
Nick

Howdy Mr. Nice Guy:

You can read what DAN has to say about back surgery and diving at:

http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/medical/faq/faq.asp?faqid=37

I didn't see any info on their website about sleep apnea and diving (or a history of now resolved sleep apnea), but I'm not aware of any specific problems with a history of sleep apnea and diving. It is generally recommended, however, that one not sleep while diving (grin).

HTH,

Bill
