The other place to stay in town Country Inn, I do not suggest. The room we stayed in was in pretty bad shape, cleanliness-wise. The sinks and tub were pretty dirty, and my wife found hairs in the bed. It was clear that the sheets weren't changed after the last visitor. I wouldn't suggest it.

Don't bring your blacklights to that place!

On the diving side, it's a nice place. Tons of tetras, bullheads, a few softshell turtles and a crawfish or two. The visibility is excellent and water temp is very comfortable in a 3 mil. On top of everything else, you can get some great bottom time on a single tank.

I didn't take any myself but the tetras envelop you if you take some bread or crackers to feed them.

Have fun!

Balmorhea: Open or confined water dive?

My local dive shop does open water dives and their confined water dives at the same time at Balmorhea so I guess the answer is yes. Not sure if it meets the standards PADI never got back to me when I asked.
