Hi!
I've been floating around the board on occassion for about a month now, maybe???
I've been diving since June & plan on one day going the instructor route. I'm hooked.
Now I've noticed that there are plenty of warm water divers & then quite a few from Ontario & Michigan hanging around on here.
I was just curious if anyone else is from BC/Washington State?

HEy there Nessum

I am from North Vancouver B.C. I became certified a few months..and have been diving as much as I can....(not that often) Where abouts in B.C. are you..if you ever need a dive buddy let me know!

Cheers

Tommy

Hey TTT & Travis!
I'm in Vancouver & when I get a little more settled into my school/work/dive routine I just may need a dive buddy, TTT.
As it is I'm waiting for my student loan $$$ so I can purchase some equipment so that renting doesn't suck me dry. I try to dive on average once a week, & that's basically what it has worked out to. I'm taking my rescue course this weekend & hopefully my nitrox shortly thereafter.
I have a small group of dive buddies that I'm quite comfortable with, but most of them are also back in school now. Most of my dives have been up to Whytecliff with a few @ Ansel (sp?) Point (the hike from hell!) & a few more at Porteau (the surface swim from hell @ high tide!).
I need to work on my navigational skills... well, a lot.
I am looking forward to hopefully a couple dives up Indian Arm in the next month (hopefully 1 crabbing & 1 drift). And perhaps even a weekend excursion to Keats Island.
I love the local diving (though I dream of diving in the tropics with little weight & little in the way of exposure suits).
Just wondering about your experiences/encounters.

Hey there Nessum!

Hows it going? I know what you mean about having to pay for school, my books took a huge chunk out paying for possible scuba gear. What school are you going too? I am going to Capilano College, it is my first year. So far all my dives..not that many have been at Whytecliff. I am going to try to get in the habit of diving at least once or twice a week.

We just moved and I am now right on the ocean in Deep Cove...I have heard the crabbing is great..there are often divers right out front of my house I can se them from my bed room window and it kills me that I am not in there with them. The other day a diver came oput with a net with many crabs in it. But as soon as I get my own gear, it will be differant.

I am hoping to take the resuce course at some point, but right now my main objective is being able to pay for gear.

Cheers

Tommy

Hi again!
TTT,
I'm going to Langara, also first year.

I just finished my rescue course today. Oh man... I'm exhausted.
The course is just what everyone says: EXTREMELY REWARDING, VERY INTENSE & a hell of a lot of FUN!!!!!! (though sometimes you forget that.)
The divers in my class I had met 4 out of the 5 that ended up completing the course with me previously, either diving or socially. The dynamic was excellent (plus I felt a little spoiled being the only female student). We all got rather frustrated at one point or another, and we would all screw up. Then again, we'd all have strong points & when it came time to carry people onto shore we had a ton of fun. A lot of horsing around amongst the seriousness of the course. Having great instructors really makes all the difference.
So yeah, I'd highly recommend the course. But be prepared. And if you don't have a LDS that you're commited to, even though it is a long way out for you, I think the world of IDC in Vancouver.
