Ok, I just got a new camera (Canon 5D) and I want to start using RAW format. What is the best program to use for opening and editing this format?

Canon's very own software does a great job.

Adobe Lightroom is pretty neat - available for a free 30 day trial on their site.

Adobe Bridge and CS2 or CS3 are good, too.

There are plenty of others but those are on my machine at the moment.

Congrats on the new toy - from everyone I know who has one, they love em!

:DGreat camera, i use mine mainly for astrophotography, as it has been modified by hutech to suck in more photons.

I use rawshooter essentials for quick conversions, and photoshop cs2 for major adjustments, gradient removal etc.

I shoot with the in camera noise removal setting on all the time as it does a great job of removing any noise created.

My exposures are normally 2-3 minutes, so this means a wait of the same time for the camera to take another exposure/dark frame and subtract it from the first, i don't see any problem with waiting time shooting underwater with the short exposures,so it might add to the quality of the image and let you play around a bit more with higher ISO levels and slower shutter speeds.

Lightroom is the greatest. It's cheaper if you get it by April 30. Still expensive ($199 US) though.
