Just got passed these two links:

Duiker sterft bij zoektocht naar lichamen verdronken meisjes
Un plongeur décède, alors qu'il recherchait Alison et Amélia dans la Meuse

A civil services diver drowned in the river Meuse (Maas, Mouze) while looking for two missing girls. The article says the current pinned him against a bridge pylon and pushed his head under, at which point he lost his mouthpiece (dutch article). Fire brigade frogmen pulled him out, but he'd already lost consciousness (french article) and later died at the hospital.

Other articles mention that one of the firemen was also injured during the rescue op. Still others mention high waters (we've had plenty of rain recently), but no additional details.
