A mate of mine has just purchased two of the Scubalamp D-Pro Strobes and is really liking them so far - they seem to be good "bang for buck" and I might get a pair.

Yeah, there's a review here: Review: Scuba Lamp D-PRO Strobe by Giacomo Rossi ::

Looks like the D-Max's issues have been fixed, and now it offers a power output near-identical to Retra Pro, at a significantly lower price, but with fewer features and more bulky design.

Marelux is also getting into the strobe game, with some impressive specs:
The three short straight bulbs should produce a full-power pulse faster than a circular one, allowing high-power output at faster sync speeds, but the triangular design, as seen on Sea & Sea YS-110 years earlier, can produce an odd-shaped beam. Here, for example, is a YS-110a without diffuser: http://www.diveplanet.ru/upload/medialibrary/f39/Sea_Sea-YS110a.jpg

Cheers! I wasn't aware that Marelux were getting in as well!
