The jist is that they are shrimp, moon. There is only one exception to this, and that is when professionally referenced. In that case "shrimp" is accepted for carideans only. And in most of those references, the relevant family or genus name is substituted.

"Shrimp" is a paraphyletic common name. "True Shrimp" is a valid (but rarely used) taxonomic term synonymous to the Caridea.

The current Wikipedia entries under-emphasize this. I may tweak them.
