Fiire coral is totally mundane but he needs a wing man to help him avoid it. A moray - on the other hand - is magnificent. He doesn't need -off the bat - something as challenging as the SDI solo course. Just someone to keep him out of trouble while he explores the other 70 percent of our planet.

Of course for him to "see" it may mean always having to use "the other hand" ;-)

Still remember when he "saw" his first circuit board and vacuum-tube, shocking I tell you!

You guys might want to check with the H.S.A. Handicap Scuba Assn. standards as to the requirements for a blind diver.

As a H.S.A. Instr normally we train to a Agency standard (Padi, SSI, etc.) mixed to HSA standards.

We classify handicaps in different levels, some require two dive buddies, and yes additional training is needed in underwater communications.

Touching / squeezing hands, arms at various points allow the blind diver and his D. buddies, to communicate.

sounds like a shop that wants money! there is no requirements in the standards for him to take a limited vis/night dive course. as you stated, the "shop" required it.
