Every time a movie comes out from a book, you know the books are always 99% better than the movies. A big plus with books is that there are alot more books with diving in them than there are movies.

The Bible
Clive Cussler: any novel
Tiger Reef
Civil War: Shaara books
Historical fiction : 1812
Harry Potter
Listed just a few, last year I read at least 25 and this year I'm nearing the same pace.

Dive Safe,
Caymaniac:)

I tend to look for certain authors. My top list of authors are:

Clive Cussler - everybody knows him.
Jack DuBrul - Very similar to Cussler, but he's a miner.
Patrick Robinson - Incredible submarine stories
Sean Flannery/David Hagberg - Same author, different pen-names

I picked up a couple Kyle Mills books, but I've not gotten to them yet.

I love reading when I have the time. I ahve read quite a few books this year alone. My favorite are Dean Koontz books. I have read everyone of his books. I also read a lot of Robin Cook.

So far this year I have read:

One Door Away From Heaven - Dean Koontz
False Memory - Dean Koontz
From the Corner of His Eye - Dean Koontz
Absolute Power: The Legacy of Corruption in the Clinton-Reno Justice Department - David Limbaugh
The Terrible Truth About Liberals - Neal Boortz
Hating Whitey: And Other Progressive Causes - David Horowitz
How I Accidentally Joined the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy: And Found Inner Peace - Harry Stein
The O'Reilly Factor - Bill O'Reilly
The Boys on the Tracks; Death, Denial, and a Mothers Crusade to Bring Her Son's Killers to Justice - Mara Leveritt
Lost Rights: The Destruction of American Liberty - James Bovard
The Last Dive: A Father and Son's Fatal Descent into the Ocean's Depths - Bernie Chowdhury

I still have others that I am starting now.

I've been doing a little thinking, and I'm sure there are some that I missed, but he's my 'last 12 months' list:

Valhalla Rising - Clive Cussler
Blue Gold - Cussler
Crossfire - David Hagberg
Last Dive - Bernie Chowdhury
Deep Descent - Kevin McMurray
Pandora's Curse - Jack Du Brul
Kilo Option - Sean Flannery
Achilles Heel - Sean Flannery
Terrible Hours - Peter Mass
Deep Sound Channel - Joe Buff
Shark Mutiny - Patrick Robinson
Pirate Hunters - Barry Clifford
Complete Wreck Diving - Henry Keatts
Deep Diving - Bret Gilliam
In the Heart of the Sea - Nathaniel Philbrick
[Oh... PADI OW and AOW]

[Freaky part about this last one, it's about the hunt for Bin Laden, and my friend was reading it when 9/11 happened]
Joshua's Hammer - David Hagberg

I'm sure I'm missing some...

Harry Potter? There was diving in this? Someone refresh my memory?

Well, your right no diving, but the books were a good read and the movie wasn't that great. Hey Jeff, great list. Hey JamesK, I've read both O'Riley books, the guy has some good points.

Dive into a book if you can't dive the Ocean
Caymaniac

Worth a read? I think he has a new edition coming out this year.

Yes, it's definately worth a read if you are interesting in wreck diving, and expecially if you are interested in hoping to finding a virgin wreck. [Is there actually any wreck divers that _don't_ want to discover a wreck?]

Actually, I've been happy with all the Watersport Book that I've read or flipped through...

Here's a list of books with underwater plots I would like to see written:

Nancy Drew in "the Case of the Missing O-Ring"

Judy Blume's "Are you there, God? My Reg's Freeflowing."

Erma Bombeck's long awaited: "Should I wash this Stuff or just let it Dry in the back of my Car?"

Helpful Scuba hints from Heloise: "99 Ways to Freshen the suit you Pee in."
