OK. This is a frivolous question. Sorry.

We have just booked our trip to Bora Bora and Tikehau. We've been to Bora Bora before and know that everything is very expensive. Therefore, we're looking to save a few dollars on booze (apart from abstaining!).

Does anyone know if there is a liquor store in Vaitape? If so, do you know the approximate price of a bottle of vodka?

The same question for Tikehau. There is a small town but I don't know the name. Is there a place to buy vodka? Price?

Thanks in advance.

Im almost positive the only place to buy alcohol in Vaitape is at Changs grocery store. There is another grocery store further around towards the sofitel that sells alcohol and has cheaper prices than Changs.

You'll have a very hard time finding ANY liquor under $60US per 750ml in FP at today's exchange rates. The further out you go the more expensive it is. Vodka will be easy to find in any of the island markets. Wine is a bit more reasonable, but only French wines are consistently available. Take care buying white wine in FP (or any of the S.Pac islands) they have had a long trip by boat(s) and many times they have been handled poorly, left in the sun on the dock or on the store shelf with no AC for years.

You can bring two liters p/p duty free into Tahiti, more if you are feeling lucky; they rarely check US tourists.

Thanks for the info. We too will be going in April.
How's the weather in April? Anyone know?

How's the weather in April? Anyone know?

We've previously been there in May and the weather was perfect. Every day was sunny, temperatures in the mid 80s, the sea calm and water temperature 82F.

We're looking for a repeat performance!
