I just acquired a used ( 1 year old) Mares 3 SPG with compass. There are a few bubbles in the compass which seem to impair the operation if not held level. Will this likely subside at depth as bubbles decrease in size?

Thanks,

I haven't had it underwater yet, so the bubbles I see are from a surface perspective (500 ft elevation). I'll certainly be testing in a couple months in benign underwater territory before I undertake any low vis search-and-destroy missions:goingdown:

Thanks for the advice...

A compass is supposed to be held level in the first place, its common for them not to work if not level...

Some bubbles are ok. Too many so that they interfere with the working of the compass is not.

My old one had several large bubbles and had to be tossed! IT was unreliable.
