My yak is the Ocean Prowler 15. I put stuff in the front then if I lift the Yak for portage it all slides into the rear of the yak. I have a large front hatch a "Rod Pod" hatch and a 6" round hatch in the rear. I still do not like the balancing act of trying to get something from way back there or way up there.

I have thought perhaps some sort of inflatable seperating front, center, and rear. Something like a industrial pool toy put in place and blown up would keep my charts, shoes, and binocluars from sliding to the stern and my life jacket, whistle, mirror in the bow where they belong. I need to look into inflatable beach balls to try and find the right one.-- hmmmm
