Any suggestions for a back-up light that doesn't flood (absolutely no twist down head switches) when your not paying attention? I was looking at the Surge by P Tec, as my wife has one and it seems to do quite well...but I'm thinking it might still be a little cheap for tech diving. Anyone tried the Aquatech Aqua Star? http://www.aquatecusa.com/led-1625aa.htm

What makes you think a small plastic switch protected by an O-ring is less flood prone than a twist-style head?

The only type of light I've never flooded are the ones with twist-down heads. By all accounts they are the most reliable type out there.. and I think the most reliable of them are those with twist down heads sealed by two O-rings.

They might be a little bit too big to fit into a BC pocket, but they're about the size of the Surge.

Double o-ring may be fine...never owned one. But cheapy UKs and P Tecs with screw down head for a switch eat butt. My Tec 40 has flooded about 10 times. Just went in for ANOTHER warranty repair and then it's going on eBay. I can tell you for DAMN certain that the Surge doesn't leak nearly as much as my Tec 40 has...hers only leaked once when new, and after the recalled switch was replaced, it hasn't leaked again in the last 2 years...even with a dive to 152'. I still think it's a little cheap due to my bad luck with P Tec stuff, and that's why I'm asking around. Looking at the Aqua Star, it appears to be a magnetic switch...which to me would seem to be the best kind of idea to remedy leakage. It's rated good to 100M. Anyone ever had any experience with it?
