I just got back from a 4 day / 5 night trip to Burma / Myanmar on the MV Jazz. I've written up a fairly lengthy three part review of the trip, including a rundown of the MV Jazz itself

In short, it was a fun trip - my second time on the Jazz and to Burma. We had some unfun moments though, running into dynamite fishermen. The viz was pretty murky the first couple of days too, although I'm not personally that bothered by low viz, although I can see it might not be other people's cup of tea.

Burma has got a wild, desolately beautiful edge to its coastline and under the water too -- it's got very little in common with the nearby Similan Islands.

Chris, great report with lovely pics. Thanks for sharing. Yery sad about the dynamite fishing though. Some of our divers returned from Burma recently and they continuously heard the blasting. Such a great pity!

Thanks for the kind words Ringo - glad you enjoyed the report. The dynamite fishing is very worrying - when I dived in Burma last year there was little evidence of it and the reefs seemed to have recovered from being overfished 4/5 years ago until Burmese authorities put a stop to it. Now it seems the fishermen are back in force. Whether it's a temporary blip until they're chased off again or the start of an ongoing problem remains to be seen.
