can anyone explain to me the different Canon lines?

power shot, elph, a20 - a80, g1 - g3, s410 etc

the elph's are canon's small form factor point and shoot.

The A series are larger and give you quite a high level of control - all manual settings etc.

The G series are the 'prosumer' level - higher levels of control and larger size. Allows larger lenses which are faster than the other series.

The S series are the compacts. s410 etc are elph form factors (tiny) are are meant to be very good. The s50 etc are 'shell' type form factor and are slightly larger and a bit more able to handle the bumps. They offer far more control than the tiny elph form cameras.

More specific questions on what you would like to do with the camera will help to determine which is best for you.

Ahh, another South Florida E-Diver. Welcome to the board Manny.

Try looking here for the answers. Not onlt does it give the specs for each line and individual camera, it also has a comparison page that will list any three cameras side by side, feature by feature. Pretty slick.
