Planning a trip to Cayman and looking into Diving the Carrie Lee with Divetech.

Anybody done this dive? Good? Not so good??

Also is ascent/deco done near a mooring line or is it possible to ascend up the wall/slope for part of the way at least.

(And yes,I do know it is not a recreational dive ! )

As you know, the Carrie Lee is a technical dive. The ship sits on the steeply sloping edge of the wall.

Depending upon your plan, you can run your deco in stages to the top edge of the wall at around 60ft and then into the shallows as your stairstep up to around 20ft and finish off near shore. This necessitates hauling all of your gas around with you and having he boat move slightly for the pick up.

attached a pretty good photo of the Carrie Lee, shows her sloping down the sand chute on the wall.
Dove it twice, years ago, using scooters from shore.....pretty cool , finding it as we motored up the wall! The bow "almost" hangs over the wall...steep slope at that point.
