I'm kicking around the idea of heading over to Casino Pt. Dive Park on Saturday, July 30th. Anyone interested in joining me for a couple of dives? Was thinking of taking the early boat over from LB and then the 6 or 7:30 PM home.

This is my last chance to dive for a while, as I'll be having gallbladder surgery on 8/3 & DAN says no diving for 3-6 weeks. So I'm antsy to knock out dive #60 before then.

Anyone game?

That sounds like a fantastic idea! I need a day or two to make sure that the logistics will work, but I'm definitely interested.

My DS should be back this week. I'm in.

I will most likely be here that weekend... unless I head off to dive La Jolla with my new dive buddy. But then, she may come out here.

Conditions have been variable. Up to 60' vis last week. My nephew and I had extended (5-22 min) encounters with black sea bass. Vis dropped to 15-20 this weekend (classes? I didn't see the bat rays feeding so that's my assumption). Temps have come back up from the 52-54 I encountered two weeks ago under the thermocline.

Good Luck with your surgery Lexy! Make your reservations early for the LB boat. We had to take the Cat express from San Pedro (on Sunday) as LB was all booked up by thursday afternoon for both days.
Dr. Bill, is there a particular spot in the park that the BSB hang out? We dove the SueJac side and did not see any. :( Even still, it was a great day of diving!

Same from me re: your surgery, Lexy.

Jetfixer- The BSB's can be seen almost anywhere in the park from the swim platform to the sandy bottom on the north side to the wrecks to the edge of the kelp forest along the way to the Sujac and zooming by the ridge near the Cousteau Memorial. Hard to predict where they will be. The key is to move slowly, especially once you spot them. I've seen divers chase them and wonder why they don't hang around. My nephew and I had encounters ranging from 5 to 22 minutes with them the past week in several different places in the Park.

I have an idea....

I haven't met anyone on this board yet, and have been wanting to get some new dive buddies. I have a 32' boat that can dive 4 pretty nicely. This looks like a pretty good group to try to get started with. Let me know if you'd like to make this trip on my boat. Typically we split the gas (which is about $70 to $100 per person with 4 depending on how much driving around once we get to the Island). The boat is in HB (Free Parking!)

The best thing is I like to to to the west end (Long point to Twin Harbors) so if anybody is up for that?

Just putting it out there...I'm looking for people that don't mind doing some deckhand work and can roll with the punches. And wont sue me if they fall and bump their noggin.

There are some pictures posted at http://www.mightyendorfin.com/enforfin_5_20_05/ for some shots a past trip. I'm the white hair guy with the round hat.

Any of you still going this Saturday? A buddy and I will be there Saturday. Going on the early boat and coming back at 6pm. If you haven't reserved your spots yet, you better hurry as the space is filling up kinda fast.

shut out. No open spots.

See you guys another day.

Ken - Which boat did you try and get on? I'm gonna give Catalina Express a ring & will book today, if there are open spots.

Other alternative for the weekend is Laguna... my buddy phoned in a dive report from last night at Shaw's with 12-15 viz, close to Lake Laguna, no red tide and little surface swell.

Thank you for the well wishes (on my surgery) too guys :)
