Catalina (1/3) Dive-In & Bonfire

OK - I'm taking the time 'tween Christmas and New Years off - and although plans will keep me close to home this year, I want to squeeze in a day at Catalina.

Sunday 12/28, Saturday Jan 3 or Sunday Jan 4 are my best dates - although a mid-weeker is not out of the question. But if we go on Jan 3, we can get the late boat back and hang out a bit.

Conditions have been great, the crowds small, the water is still in the 59 - 62 range... you gotta love So Cal Winter diving.

I'm thinking going over on the 8:30 Am and coming back late on Jan 3rd.

I would love to see some others out there for this. Its a lock I'll be there - and if we get enough of us, I'd love to move the party from the Casino to Descanso Beach club firepit for a So Cal bonfire and evening silliness before catching the 9:50 PM boat back on Jan 3.

I'll be out of town for the holiday, but back for New Year's, so it might work, weather and flu-season permitting. I am planning a trip out there 1/17, though, so if not the 3rd...

...it occurs on the dates that Ken suggested. Those dates happen to fit perfectly around my trip to Big Bear with hubby and friends.

Will drbill be back yet? He must be there!

I still feel bad about skipping out on the last group dive so I can’t wait for this one.

I am available for the trip if it is on Jan.3rd. I have met a few people from the board recently and would love to meet more, since the ones I have met have been a lot of fun diving with and even more fun topside.

I like the idea of having a bonfire at Descanso Beach after diving. It would be a great way to get to know each other. Can’t wait …..I am sure it will be a great time. Hopefully this date works for most of us.

I just sent an email to drbill to let him know of this new plan... I looked in an old post and he said he'd be gone til the end of December, so maybe he is available on the 3rd. We'll see!

In the meantime, does the 3rd work out for others?

The dates are good for me, have to check with my better half to see if she can schedule her work around it as well.

Don't have to worry bout me invading your time with the "hotties", when I am around they keep thinking a whale beached again and try to put me back in the water.

Don't know I'd be hunky even among the hardcore science-fair crowd ... and am just a gracefully aging married dude at that ... but, alas, on January 3 I'm just a little bit busy.

I would like to try to make this trip! It sounds like fun and I think I have already requested that Saturday off of work. If I can clear it with the wife I will be there.

The 3rd sounds like a good date to go to the Park to me. I'll see what I can do about making it a firm date...and maybe I'll try to round up a few locals to boot.
