Wife just picked up our reg sets from the LDS. On both was a small black sleeve, like a hose protector but loose and could slide on the hose, with Certified Regulator Service and little punch outs like a visual sticker with the month and year. Was told some operations now require proof your regulators have been serviced.

WTH? Has anyone else seen this or heard about this?

This service sleeve is a VERY old idea and has nothing to do with any operation requiring proof of service. It is more of a reminder to the customer to service their equipment without having to sort through their receipts they often loose. Neat idea actually.

Yeah, this shop has never done it before but the wife got in a really bad auto accident last year and cough cough I might have been really late bringing them in for service.

Advertising ploy, encourages you to bring your regs to them, most like likely sooner than actually needed.

It might be interesting to ask to see their c-card.
