For the first time in roughly 5 years, the wife and I took a non-diving vacation. It really felt wierd not lugging our dive gear around in the airports but at the same time sort of felt good.

We went to China, visiting Beijing and Shanghai. When we would go to other places outside of the US on our dive vacations we would not be as aware of the surrounding area and living conditions as we were with our trip to China.

We had a great time, visiting Tianenamen (sp?) Square, the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, The Great Wall and many other places of interest but were disturbed by the living conditions of the local people we came into contact with.

We took over 900 pictures and over 1 1/2 hours of video from our trip. I have downloaded some of the pics onto Yahoo, if you would care to view some of the things we saw.

One can appreciate a little more what they have once they experience some of the things we did on this trip.

Be safe, be happy and be thankful for what you've got.
