How do you clean ( polish ) a dull satin regulator cans ?
They have a yellow coating on them and the hoses.
What causes this to happen ?

The cans can be scrubbed with most any dish safe cleaner or if really nasty, a few minute soak in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar followed with a scrubbing with an old toothbrush and tooth paste. The hoses you can just throw in the washing machine with a load of towels....seriously, that is what Bryan at VDH recommends. I like a little bleach in the water to kill bacteria...assuming the towels are color fast or you like white towels. :) As to what the film is...the first thing that comes to mind is smoking residue.
