Most of the time I spent adjusting the lever on the second stages. If you adjust the lever for a minimal amount of freeplay, when you pressurize the reg this seems to change and must be readjusted.
I've noticed that under pressure, the lever drops slightly.
From what I understand, the starting location of the nut from the service manual is just a ballpark. Once you pressurize the second stage, there is a two step process-
1) if free flowing, loosen the nut which allows the spring to press the seat more.
2) loosen the nut further to lower the lever to be even with the top of the body.
One question I have- is the lever is supposed to be "loose" once adjusted for proper height?
On one of my regs the lever stays pretty stationary. On another, the lever is "loose" and I can flick it with my finger in the upward direction. If I tighten the nut to prevent this freeplay, the lever is too high.
If the diaphragm and cover is on, the lever won't have space to move upward anyways, so it hasn't been an issue.
