Hey all,

I recently changed my regulator to DIN and have steel 80 tanks that have the convertible DIN/yoke insert. This may sound like a stupid question but i cannot seem to find an answer, but do I need to fully empty the tanks before removing the insert to make the tank DIN? Appreciate the help guys.

Confirmed, just unscrew them anytime.

If you replace them for yoke filling or regulators do not over tighten. You want to seal the o-ring but not cock the insert in the thread.

Just snug it down with the Allen wrench. It doesn't need to be wicked tight

So just hand tighten then?

I think seating them sufficiently without an allen key would prove difficult, but you shouldn't crank them in there with the tool.

A little further clarification:
The gas pressure arrives at the outlet after passing through the valve & bonnet, so as long as you have the valve closed you can remove/install the DIN insert.

1/4" (6mm~6.5mm) hex wrench, weaker-hand-tight

We have tanks in our fleet with three different Allen wrench sizes.
