We've just returned from a trip to Cozumel - our first time. We arrived on Saturday a little too late to dive in the afternoon, but had an opportunity to do a shore dive the next day.
We stayed at Casa del Mar. The place was clean and not expensive. The restaurant leaves a bit to be desired, but only in terms of variety. What is get is quite good, but be prepared to have a menu item more than once!
We dove with Del Mar Aquatics (Del Mar Aquatics, Scuba Diving & Fishing in Cozumel, MEXICO.). The service was absolutely spot on. Alex - the manager - was always willing to help, and a comedian to boot ;-). We were only able to dive two days due to bad weather, but both days were enough to make us want to go back. The first day we dove Palancar Bricks and French Lady. There were about 20 people on the boat, so there were three DMs to guide. This was also the first time we've done any drift diving. Easy! We had six people in our group, and the whole group had to stay together (as together as one can) so when the first person called the dive, we all went up for a safety stop. The same was true for the second dive.
Our second day was at Santa Rosa Wall and Yucab. Wonderful sites. Probably the most pleasing was watching a turtle eat lunch - and watching us watch him! But there were octopii, triggerfish, barracuda and one HUGE green moray!
All in all, I'd highly recommend Del Mar Aquatics. They will also pick you up at different locations, so I don't know that we'll stay at Casa del Mar again. But when we return they will be our Operator of Choice.
