If you look near the top of your browser window, you will see an option called "User CP". Click on that and you will be presented with your User Control Panel. Along the left side of that screen is an option "Edit Avatar". Click on that and you will presented with the option of uploading your own picture or selecting one of many pre-selected avatars.
If your questions is litterally WHERE do you find the pics to upload, a GOOGLE search for IMAGES on some subject you might want to use as an avatar would be a start.
