I,ve seen sharks at 1800 meters

Really , not diving obviously but the the cameras on the ROV i Pilot , also seen huge rays & giant squid plus many other strange marine life .

But does anyone Know the deepest sharks live at ?

I,m not sure but they got very anoyed at our sonar system , they were brown in color & very slim & long , about 4 - 5 meters in length

I'm not certain, but this ugly little sleeper shark may fit the bill for deepest species.

Hey, what area do you work out of? Got any footage we can bootleg? I'm always looking to expand my deepwater archives. Heck, I can probably ID some of the junk for ya!

I maintain Finer optic sub sea cables world wide , if you want footage I,ll have to copy some stuff for you , but you,ll have to trawl thru it for fish etc !!

The ones you saw could also have been Sixgill Sharks http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/Gallery/Descript/BSixgill/Bsixgill.html

I've seen video of some on TV before. Although they are mainly deepwater sharks, they are also renowned for coming in close to shore in some areas at night, I think around the Washington State or BC coast from memory.

If you watch the DVD "blue planet : the deep" from BBC, you will see in the abyss a shark right up to the ROV eating a tuna.

I believe it was 3000m (9000 feet).

I have no commercial interest in this DVD but was amazed with the life down there.
Some of them look like the one in the "Abyss" movie.
