If I recall they normally have an "e" clip on the shaft to prevent that, but in any case you have two options:

1. Wrap the line the other way around the reel so it does not spin the shaft in the "lefty loosey" direction.

2. Buy a decent Larry Green/Ralph Hood, or Halcyon/Salvo reel.

I purchased a Dive Rite Deco Reel in 2005. When I use it to shoot a lift-bag, the axle and spool comes loose (unscrews itself) from the handle. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Sounds like the spool has come loose (assuming you have the e-clip, still). Send it in and we'll get you fixed up. SERVICE

Best,
Kathleen
