Diving in Phuket - Tips

I’m spending a week in Phuket.

Could anyone recommend to me a good diving center/diving areas near by?

The Westin isn't really near a dive center, but that doesn't really matter because the operators offer or arrange transfers to the boats from your hotel regardless where on Phuket you're staying. For that reason, I'd figure out which days you want to dive, where you want to go on those days, and get on a boat going to those places on those days.

On Phuket I was diving with Diveasia and I highly recommend them for day trips. Phuket SCUBA diving day trips in Thailand with Dive Asia
For liveaboards to the Similans there are better deals but it probably won't fit your schedule anyway.

Take into account that from the Westin there will be a substantial surcharge for transfers, from Patong transfers will be included in trip prices.

I finally managed to dive at Phi Phi islands with Sea Fun Divers based in Chalong. Well organized, good atmosphere and friendly dive masters.
