You can dive year round in the Cote D'Azur.

Check out Le Poseidon in the Port of Nice. Poséidon-Nice - Centre de plongée Note, however, that from October to May they only dive on Sunday morning at 9:00AM. This is a dive club, so you will need a medical certificate not older than 1 year attesting to your being medically fit to dive. (If diving in France get this before you go.)

However, Cap Ferrat Diving will take you out anytime three divers want to go out. E-mail: info@capferratdiving.com. Tel. +33 (0)689-269-525. Cost 40 Euro per diver with full gear rental. (I chartered the whole boat for Eur 140 because there were no other divers who wanted to go out.)

St. Jean Cap Ferrat is about 30 minutes by bus from Nice. Get off at the last stop, retrace your steps to the main drag and follow some stairs down to the water. The dive shop is next to the Shell Museum about 5 minutes from the bus stop.

Olivier has a roomy fishing boat he has transformed into a cozy dive boat. There is even a hot shower on deck.

Viz was 10 meters after a storm. Water temp. in mid November was 16C but in summer it gets to 26C. This dive operator hires a lot of divemasters during the peak season to ensure guests are well looked after.

Cap Estel is a great dive--rated as one of the top 250 Mediterranean dives. Viz was 10 metres after a storm. In mid November water temperature was 16C. Lovely cavern at 60 feet.

You don't need a medical certificate to dive with this operator.

Since I dove in the off season, I chose to stay in Nice. (Hotel le Grimaldi which was a reasonably priced 4 star in central Nice. Eur 95 for a single.) Many of Cap Ferrat's hotels and restaurants are shut during this season.

Visit the nearby Rotschild villa and gardens after your dive.
