responded to this thread in so long. Modem crapped out and I've been busy with the blah blah blah-- blah blah blah of life.

I would like to do the natural wrecks if at all possible although there may be a person with us that would be better suited to do some thing like the Sheridan.

Right now 'm looking at the weekend of the 14th and 15th of November although the 7th and 8th might be do-able.

Thanks for all the info:)

just keep me updated of your plans, I will definately be available early weekends in Nov-dunno about my buddy, but I'm in.
I have some new travel sickness pills from Britain to try out!!!!

You could easily do the Southjack Wreck and Tramp Steamer in one day. They are easy dives, and both right around 60fsw in depth. If you want to learn about these wrecks and lots of others, I hear there is a new Florida shipwrecks book that will be available soon <G>

You guy may also want to look at south Pinellas wreck only been down about three month shallow dive 45, nice seconde dive coud stay there all day. This is also the sight where I saw 23 Goliath fish but the last time I was there I only saw seven. Would love to dive with you but Im waiting for the Doc to give me the goahead

On the 4th of July, I went out with the folks at Dive Clearwater http://diveclearwater.com/. I have some pics here:

I have ordered a strobe for my camera :) So, next time I get wet, I hope to have some better... (great!?!?) shots! :)

Viz was about 20ft at about 50ft at both dives as fat as I can remember.

Also, I dove for sharks teeth down at venice.. about an hour south of Tampa. Fun Stuff. you can shore dive, but... if it is your first trip let me recomment the folks at , I can recommend the folks at Florida West Scuba School. http://www.floridawestscuba.com/ The captian gave a great predive talk. About the geology, history of ancient Florida, showed the kinda teeth... meg, mako, sand.. you might find, and the bones bones... whales (megs favorite food) and manatee are most common. There was a cool little ledge... made me wish I hadn't left the camera at home.... next time, I know better.

We picked the 14th and 15th of November for the diving days. the 13th and 16th will be our travel days. No other arrangements have been made at this point. I still need to contact Bob and Allison in Florida.

I just moved to St. petersburg and looking to get wet. I would be able to go those dates. Let me know.

jbd once bubbled...
Can anyone tell me about the diving in the Tampa area?

What are the conditions? What is there to see or do while UW?

Any natural formations UW?

I've done shore diving at Venice, Naples and Boca Grande further south. Not worth the drive but it was fun. I had a friend that worked at The Tackle Shack in Tampa. Biggest damn dive shop I've ever been in. No exaggerations, 1000 wetsuits, 100 BC's, 50 regs, 100 tanks, god knows how many surf boards and other stuff. The bank system was incredible. I highly recommend this outfit. They also do daily spearfishing but it may be commmercial.

Bob has seen it all out in The Graveyard, a dive site off of Tampa. Hammerheads, 10 lb. lobsters, huge grouper, jack and snapper.

Uncle Sam has finally deemed it time to leave the Middle East and head for CONUS.. Not home of course (PNW) but if I have to go somewhere without the family, I guess Tampa will do.

I should be back in the Nov timeframe being discussed and would like to get with others who already know what there is to know about the area.

88 deg.. I guess I don't need to have my wife send me my drysuit :D

(fossils are always a good thing, especially if I don't have to dig them out of rock)
