I'm a Fish!
Hi,

Will be staying with the family and friends in Siesta Keys all next week.
Any suggestions or recommendation on where to dive and who with while we are there?
Any interesting dive spots?

Anyone wants to demo the fins while I am out there? :)

If you are looking for local boats, save a day for BlueWaterExplorers. It is at the ScubaShack in Cortez. (Bradenton) Water has been great, good vis and warming up nicely. Also as you have read I'm sure, we do have some local beach dives out of Venice for sharks teeth. Have a great time Hope to see you out there!

Omega, what area of Sarasota are you staying in? I'm trying to plan a last minute vacation with family from Miami and have been trying to find a descent place to rent.

Head to Venice and dive with Florida West Scuba for sharks teeth. They are a great out fit. its a 2 tank dive in the am. If the conditions are good you could also rent a tank and do a beach dive.

I'll second Fl.West Scuba School (941-486-1400). The owner Capt.Steve Thacker is a personal friend and retired hydrogeologist, and font of information concerning the fossil formations off Venice. This is a goal-oriented dive where you can hunt for megalodon teeth, some as big as 5-6". It's really fun for all.

If he can squeeze you on the boat, I'd definitely go for it, you won't regret it. Tell him Divindoc sent you and he'll treat you right - he's also my cave diving buddy.

I'll throw another shop into the mix. Florida Underwater Sports is a great outfit. The owners are some really nice guys. Give them a call and see if they have anything planned for next week. Their number is 941-870-4461

Thanks Omega...looked them up but they require a min of 7 night stay. We're just trying to find something for the weekend...which has been pretty difficult. Enjoy your trip.
