Hello.
I will be near Tampa with one day available for diving at the end of February - more specifically in New Port Richey which is North of Tampa. I'd like to get a sample of a few wrecks in the Gulf.
After doing my research I'm not finding much in the way of Dive Operators in that immediate area and given that I've only got 1 day I'm really not looking to drive too far.
I found Narcosis Scuba Center in Tarpon Springs which is only 20 minutes away and I'm booked but I have a few questions- and the new guy Jacob is friendly and helpful but didn't have the answers and although he promised to get back to me I haven't heard from anyone yet.
I have to be at the dive shop at 5 am and it's a full day excursion. So the boat ride has gotta be pretty long, is that right?
I prefer intact wrecks, and based on my research I requested the Blackthorn and Sheridan. Any other suggestions? After I booked I realized a 3 tank dive might be possible, what could be a good third wreck?
The cost of the dives without tanks was $159, plus another $50 for 2 Nitrox tanks, that seems high especially as compared to SE Florida where the average cost is closer to $90 with tanks.
Wetsuit thickness for late March? I'm relatively cold tolerant.
Other nearby Dive Operators (Tanks-A-Lot and 2 Sheas) state on their websites they don't do wrecks shallower than 60' I thought that was odd?
Narcosis needs 3 divers to run a trip, wondering what my chances are that they will meet that minimum in March and what the typical weather conditions are like in the Gulf that time of year in terms of wind and waves.
Thanks to those who take the time to read this and offer advice and suggestions.
