So some time ago i began to have a problem with one of my Gavin scooters and found the engine was on its last leg. still need to replace that engine, but am honestly considering getting a new oceanic motor instead of rebuilding it. just going to probrably get one used or something.

i was wondering tho, what excactly are the specs for the Mako motor that the Gavin uses.

i know its 24v permanent magnet Motor ~ 800 - 1000 RPM, but what are its other specs thrust, power consumption, Etc.

It be nice to find an alternative motor for the gavin, though thats not why im asking this question. Now that ive pretty much taken the scooter completely apart. its actually pretty surprising how simple of a machine it is, id love to try and give it a shot and try and make a gavin clone or my own version of one. the only real challenge i see is finding a shaft seal that would work for it as well as a different tail cone if the normal mako one does not work.

can something like this be used

?500 w 24V DC26 7 A Electric Motor for Scooter Bike Go Kart Minibike E ATV MY1020 | eBay

- 24V DC
- Max 500 Watt, 26.7 amps
- Max 2500 RPM

- Chain drive (11 teeth sprocket) #25 chain 6.35 pitch
- Type of motor: DC, Brush
- Reversible
- 12 gauge leads
- Permanent Magnet

It is much better to go in BRUSHLESS ELECTROMOTOR something like

1 Pcs Nema34 Brushless DC Motor Peak Torque 892 oz in with Speed Driver | eBay

with 3 phase controller .
Basicaly all modern scooters work with brushless motors , torque is giant and can be hold at low rpm ( you can recognize them after three thicker wires out (lower picture on page 3 ( two thick wires to contoler , three thinner wires out from controller to motor )

probably you will need arround 1000 rpm so it is good to look on gearbox which have shaft in the centre
