I use polypropylene long underwear as a wicking/warmth layer under my Weezle Extreme Plus or Polartec fleece undergarments.

The polypropylene definitely makes the Weezle quite a bit warmer.

Even with the underlayer, the Weezle's wicking appears to be perfectly fine, in my opinion.

For my feet, I've been using Merino wool socks, sometimes two pairs, sometimes combined with Weezle socks for winter diving.

My thanks to ScubaBoard members who recommended Merino wool! I tried it and found it maintains loft better than Weezle or fleece. It's also warmer and softer and more comfortable than coarser wool socks.

For me, Merino wool socks were a big improvement, especially when diving in really cold water!

I use a variety of underlayer depending on the water temp.

In cold weather, water temps below 40 deg. or ice diving. i use the DUI thinsulate 400 and thinsulate socks. This undergarment combo is HOT and not very flexible. But very comfortable when youre underwater.

In water temps around 50-60 deg. (early spring - late fall) i use the DUI super stretch and socks which provides more movement and all you need is a wicking layer next to your skin.

in waters above 65 deg. (summer) I use sweats. and wool socks.

Helly Hansen polypropylene stuff, good for snowboarding as well as for diving. However, I would avoid going near open fire with that stuff on, looks like instant plastic wrap should something like that happen. :D

I use the heavy smartwool thermals and socks, or the undergarments that came with my suit.

I wear expedition weight base layer pants from www.mec.ca, it's "Malden Mills® Polartec® Power Dry® . " and I wear a midweight long sleeve tee "Polartec® Power Dry® fabric with a micro polar fleece stetch long sleeve top over that. I find it works well because none of it is "too fluffy" I had problems dumping air if my clothing was the fluffier polar fleece. I wear polyester ultrathin socks, then a pair of thick wool socks.

I pretty much never vary from this, unless it's mid-july to early september, than I might leave off the top shirt layer.

I wore polypropylene pants for awhile until my suit flooded, and I was so itchy I nearly cut my suit off with my dive knfe.
