editing a post

Yesterday I posted 2 separate posts in the classifieds. I need to edit one of them but there is no edit button at the bottom. On the other, there is. I don't get it. Could someone explain?

You have only a certain period of time in which you can edit one of your posts. After that alloted time is up, you can't edit it.
