Sorry guys if my post is redundant but I didn't found a proper answer on other threads.
It's seem that the fundamentals recommandations is don't pass the 2000 feets elevation variation threshold BUT I was regularly diving in a spot (Atami, Nagoya, Japan) that was required a step 5000 feets ascent and descent in a short period of time (30 minutes drive). We were on the road ~1 hour after the end of the dive and everything was fine.
Not only for me but also for the 1000 of peoples that are diving over there during the last decade including my Instructor that was doing that on a weekly basis during the last ~30 years and he was doing some 200 feets (60m) deco dive.
I have a friend that went for a drive in the mountain (10k feets) after a recreational diving weekend (~66 feets / 20 m avg) and he was fine or at least he seem fine today!
But flying on a pressurized aircraft (8000 feets) is NOT acceptable and I believe it. But is it due to the ALTITUDE or the TIME SPENT at that altitude or BOTH.
Can you please let me know if anybody have any technical information that are coming from a physician on a research that was done for elevation vs time exposure vs ascent/descent rate while driving with a reference please (book, internet page, ect...).
I'm asking the question because I move back to Quebec and I have drive in the mountain after a specific dive and I'm also taking flying lesson.
I'm mostly doing short flying lesson (1 hour to 1.3 hours) with an elevation between 1200 feets to 3000 feets (max 5000 feets in rare case).
I saw some rule like add 1 hour break for 1000 feets elevation variation but where that rule is coming from and is it good for long exposure?
I'm don't want to push the limit. I just want to be safe and realistic.
In my private pilot license they just mentioned don't fly in less than 24 hours after scuba diving.
Anyway, I'll appreciate any help.
