I currently have a reel by"the underwater connection" the line frequently gets jammed between the thick plastic outer encasement and alum bracket. Some reply's I got were that the enclosed reels had a bad reputation. Please explain and offer other suggestions for a reel that is "LEAST" likely to jam.
Thanks.....

Enclosed do tend to have an (earned) bad repuation for a few reasons. The do jam easily, they are difficult to unjam and difficult to check before use or during pre dive checks to see it is wound properly,

For reliability you want an open reel. Some makes are far better than others too :)
