The Valsalva method has never worked for me so I have been using the lowery technique(pinch nostrils, build up pressure and swallow). I can hear the click when I swallow , but not as audible when I try to use the Valsalva method. Should it sound the same in your ears from one technique to the next?

Short answer.. it sounds different to me.
I've tried a number of methods and each sounds and feels different, but all seem to work ok for me.

Valsalva has the drawback of being a bit forceful for some people.

Dr Ernest Campbell has a good discussion of clearing techniques at his website and in the archives..

blow bubbles in the water,( not out your ears)
