Me and my dive buddies hit the dive platform every 1st dive of the year too. You never know what skills need improvement, even if it used to come naturally to you.

I did mask clearing with few problems from OW class through to AOW. However, for some reason, after several months' break in diving, I didn't do so well. I had to practice a few times until it felt natural again. I was glad to have discovered this while safely on a shallow platform.

We also believe in heading to the platform when someone is using new equipment for the first time.

I believe there is always room for improvement.

I've hit the pool twice over the winter...did the usual, mask floods and clears, no mask swimming, exchanging regs (which is also good to check out the reg since it was just serviced) etc. the pool bottomed out at 15 feet so I tried a hover at about 12 (in the 7mm) to work on my safety stops.

Only problem is that it's too short to get the kinks out of the "dive muscles"...
