Hi,

Wondering if someone could recommend a good fish and marine life ID book for the South East Asia region? Something along the lines of the excellent Humann and Deloach series for the Carribean?

Thanks!
joseph

You're in luck. Paul Humann, et al. just published:

Reef Fish Identification - Tropical Pacific
by Gerald Allen, Roger Steene, Paul Humann, Ned DeLoach

I also recommend:

Indo-Pacific Coral Reef Field Guide
by Gerald R. Allen, Roger Steene

You'll find both at amazon or barnes & noble

Good timing :) Glad to hear Humann's released a book for the Pacific. I'll look into both books. Thanks for the recommendations!

cheers
joseph

I have both the above books. The Reef Fish one is excellent.

Chances are you'll need more than one guide. Allens book covers an enormous territory and there are times when a species is too local to make the book. Then you need a guide for the area you are diving.
Luck.
