Here is what's new with the Flathead.

1 The body is shaved down to only what is needed.
About a half to a full pound was removed from the body.
You will notice it if diving doubles. Reset your trim.

2 Internally the regulation parts remain in the same layout.
Nothing new for service techs.

3 The internal porting got an improvement that increased flow by about 20 to 25%
No chance you are ever going to out breathe this reg.

4 The external ports were relocated and a 5th was added.
Better hose routing especially for double diving.

5 It looks cool as hell.

I Agree. I think the only other difference is with the enviromental seal on the FH7. If i am not mistaken, it is now more accesiable to be serviced.

The website says the Flathead 7 has the highest performance. Yet the Flathead LT has lower work of breathing. What am I missing?

The Flathead 7 is considered higher performance because it's enviro sealed and can handle any and all conditions. The LT doesn't have the enviro seal on it, which allows the reg to react faster and smoother since there is nothing between the water and the diaphragm now, so it will breathe easier on the breathing machine. However it wont be very good in extremely cold water.
