I had a slight flood (seriously, only a ml or two!) on my last dive and it managed to get into my camera. I took out the battery and sd card as soon as I found it and dried it out in the hot water cupboard for a day. It seems to be fine (all the functions are working.......at the moment) except I can see there is 'water damage' behind the screen (if you tilt the camera you can see there is water in behind). I know its going to die because its salt water, but hopefully it will live for a while before I can figure out my next move!

But my question for this thread is, has anybody ever bought the Ricoh GX-100 as a replacement for the Sea and Sea camera?

Any tips on keeping the camera alive in the mean time much appreciated!

that camera would work fine as a replacement

Power up and extend the lens as far as it will go, do not power down, take out the battery and the lens should stay out. have the batt/sd card door open and put it in a paper bag with some silica gel packs. This will help draw out moisture but even if you get it all you have salt crystals inside. Sorry.

Thanks everybody for your replies, and thanks scuba e, I'll do that. In the mean time, I'm going to wait till it shows of dying and buy a gx-100. Or else I'll bite the bullet and buy a dx 2g :)

I see Sea and Sea have a new waterproof camera, the DX GE5. Great idea especially for those of us who flood their cameras~! Pity the macro shooting is only from 6cm and not 1cm like the 1G and 2G.

Just in case, let me know if you upgrade and have the 1G housing disposable - a friend of mine crashed his housing, now he's looking for one :p
