Well, driving, actually, but I'll be heading down to Orange County this Monday on business for at least 2 weeks. Do any of my neighbors to the south have suggestions for local diving there?

Thanks.

www.sandeaters.org has a list of lodal beach dives as well as of dives scheduled for every Sunday. You can also e-mail the list to get a dive going.

I am available on a flexible schedule.

You may wish to subscribe to my OC Divebums listserv for your trip to OC. It offers very current dive reports, dive buddies, critter sightings, and other general dive info relevant to Orange County diving. You'll get a variety of dive info from a variety of OC divers. No website yet, but I am working on that! See subscription info in my signature below.

Also see: http://lagunaseasports.com/conditions/conditions.asp for Shaw's Cove conditions. Laguna Sea Sports also has a recorded dive report at 949-494-6965, 3#.

Have a great trip and holler if you need a buddy. I may be available too!

Hey WileEDiver,

It was nice to meet you up at Pt. Lobos on the 28th!
If you make it a little further down south (to San Diego), let me know and I'll dive with you...

my local dive club has plans to head over to Casino Point in Avalon for the day. Gee, maybe the bruises from Saturday will have healed by then. Anyway, that adventure willl be subject to acceptable weather...but you'd be welcome to join us.

Thanks for the invites, guys.

kelpmermaid, not sure if I'll still be down by the 17th, but if I am, I'd definitely like to take you up on that.

Dan the Man, a pleasure meeting you, too. I just wish the viz had been better that day. I was out on some great boat dives yesterday where we had 40-50 foot.

I did get angry at my dry suit that wasn't, and have sent it back for them to find the leak. In my annoyance, I decided not to take the rest of my gear down with me, and last night and today I was reminded how much warmer it is down here and am kicking myself now. I may try and find a shop that will rent a complete set of gear (don't even have my mask and fins). Pasley, if I can find such a place, any interest in night dives during the week?

Thanks again, SoCalers!

Might be a long trip from OC but www.hollywoodivers.com has some nice rental DUIs. You may also want to check at the Great Evil stores. As far as renting fins and masks, I only know one, on Catalina: www.scubaluv.com

Not diving this WE. My left ear is still recovering from Saturday...

Alright, Arnaud, I'll bite. What're the "Great Evil" stores? Sports Chalet?

Unfortunately, there isn't any other...

I went in to a dive shop in Costa Mesa (not a "Great Evil" store) the other day and struck up a conversation with a nice guy working there. He set me up with some of his buddies and we did 2 really nice night dives Wednesday evening in Laguna Beach at a site called Shaw's Cove.

An eel, Garabaldis, urchins, an octopus, and more mussel shells than you can shake a regulator at, and more were all on hand to greet us.

Night dives, friendly dive buddies, a full moon, good conditions (after a lonnnnnnnnnnnng walk down a s---load of stairs: Who could ask for anything more?
