Focus gear in auto focus mode

Hi,

I'm a new owner of ur mdx300. Thinking to buy the port for 105mm and I like to maximize the use of the AF. My question : do I need to buy the focus gear coz it is gonna be auto focus mode ? or the focus gear has additional fuctionality ( hold the lens) ?

HI djoko-
A focus gear is for use with manual focus only and is not necessary if you do not wish to shoot in manual. The gear can be mounted on the lens and not be used, but if you are only going to shoot AF we recommend not mounting a focus gear.
