The Gates HF S10/S11 Underwater Video housing is scheduled to start shipping this week! Here are 3 pictures of the new housing and its intuitive design and utilization of the Canon IR remote control, and a picture of the GP32 Wide Angle Port.

The housing (without port) is $2490. The GP32 Wide angle port is $680. I will be out testing the camera and housing next weekend at Catalina...anyone interested in joining and coming out to dive the new rig?

The Gates HF S11 Housings have shipped and will be here tomorrow!!

Here are a few pictures of the housing. They arrived today, what a beautiful piece of machinery!! Many people had questions on the purpose of the bent arm on the left side. There is a purpose behind the bent up bar design. It was put there as a handle for use giving the user leverage when pushing the top buttons that access the Canon remote control. When I held and played with the housing, I was fine with just holding the housing with my right hand and just push the buttons with my left hand and not using the bent arm...however the concept behind the bent arm is to hold that arm with your left hand to give you leverage while using your left thumb to push down on the button controls is easier for the end user. It also acts as a nice handle to hold the system.

Here are two photos (taken with iPhone) that show the use of the bent left arm while accessing the controls on top for the canon remote control.

yes they are, send me a PM.

Alex, are you referring to the large blue control shaft? That there is the zoom control. With the placement of the control itself being so far in on the camera, the engineers at Gates didnt want the user to have to remove their hand from the hand grip to reach the zoom, so they created a longer control shaft which is now accessible with the right hand without removing the hand from the grip.

Headed out to Casino Point at Catalina tomorrow to dive the new Gates HFS11. Will have some video to share this week and a report on functionality.

ok ok I finally made it out to Catalina yesterday, had a GREAT day with the new Gates HF S11 housing set up. My set up was the Gates HF S11 housing, Canon HF S11 camera, GP32 Wide Angle port, and the Big Blue VL-2x32 W Led lights (2 x 1,000 lumens light heads). More details and video clips coming this weekend. Stay tuned!
