We were in Bol, Island Brac end of September 07. I have a 3mm long and a 3mm shortie with Fourth element vest and shorts and thats fine. Others in 5mm or less were OK except if the air temp was low (we had some cold days with rain) after the dive. Otherwise 5mm is comfortable.
I recently came back from my diving vacation in Croatia.
We ended up on the island Vis, in the city Komiza and dove for 5 days.
I absolutely enjoyed diving there, although it was very different from the diving I have done before (which is diving in Thailand and diving in Sweden).
I have learnt so much during these dives any way, met a lot of nice people and of course got to see a lot of nice dive sites and last but not least enjoy the friendliness of the croatian people.
I should be heading there in February if everything goes as planned... are there any caves in Croatia?? Or in that general region. We are flying in to Zagreb and heading to Tula for a day or two... then we are heading south and inland to visit Bosnia. I will work my itinerary if I can find some nice caves to dive....
Thanks for the info P.S. nice pics and video... Can't wait to check it out myself...
Altough Croatia and Bosnia are karst area, divable caves are very rare. Usualy source of some river and usualy deep and cold. Moreover, you have to have special permitions to do it legaly. Dry caves with some flooded parts are more common. BTW when you see somebody advertises cave diving in Croatia it's usually some sea cavern. Regarding Bosnia, few people from DIR-UK made some dives last year (published in GUE Quest magazine).
I went to the Island Hvar, sw from Split, this autum with family. Stayed near city Hvar and was diving to the west from the city. Very good diving. Great vis, approx 30m. Water temp 20 in the surface, 18 on 25 meters. A lot of sea creatures to see: Nudibranches, octupuses, lobsters.
Diving with Divingcenter Viking, a very friendly and skilled place.
Hi Croatia divers,
I'm planning a new trip to Hvar, Croatia in june.
I was hoping to dive near the island if Vis also.
Anyone aware if it's possible to get there on daytrips from Hvar ?
