I would say get your inoculations up to date. Especially in areas where geese and other zoonotic diseases are present.

And keep your mask on. Every few years, some folks die from a crazy nose amoeba. Shallow, warm, stagnant, summer time freshwater is the recipe for disaster.

Search for the Dirty Jobs episode. I think that is where they showed most of the hazards. It may have been an article in a mag though. Snakes and gaters are two of the big ones. The chemicals are a huge problem too. From what I understand it is not worth it.

Yeah... Vulcanized rubber drysuit with locking wrist seals, full face mask with hood. Expect an average of 15c per ball...
