We will be in Grand Bahama in May and are looking for advice about dive operators. Have read good reviews about Grand Bahama Scuba and Sunn Odyssey. Would appreciate input from anyone who has dove with either shop. We will be staying at the Bell Channel Inn. Any tips on restaurants and shopping in that area would also be appreciated.

I would highly recomend Grand Bahama Scuba My wife and I dive with them each year.
They go out of their way to make your diving pleasurable. They are great with newbies, and seasoned veterans too!

Arrangements can be made for transportation

Have a great trip!!! looking forward to hearing about it!!

....... no I don't work for them, I just really like their operation, and the resort they operate out of!! :)

As you are staying in the Bell Channel Inn, you can get a deal for hotel/diving with Caribbean Divers, the onsite operator. They are small and don't offer nitrox, but they're very cheap on multi-day package deals.

Although the Bell Channel Inn is a little rough around the edges, its not a bad place to stay. The small onsite restaurant is not bad and has a small bar which has a decent happy hour.

You will probably want to take a cab or bus over to Port Lucaya Market Place (although we walked it a couple of times) Thats where the party is at night at the square and many good bars and restraurants and shopping.

If you want to gamble, you've got to take a cab to the Interanational Bazaar near Freeport. It is another shopping/bar and restaurant area, with an adjacent casino.

The new Casino in Port Lucaya is now open, you don't have to make the trip to the International Bazaar unless you want to!
